FUEL Innovation Design & Manufacturing (also known as "FUEL" or "FUEL Innovation") supports the full path from concept to production: engineering, industrial design, prototyping, certification support, and manufacturing under one roof. ## How we work

FUEL keeps engineering and manufacturing under one roof and stays close to each project through every stage, so momentum is not lost in handoffs. Work is developed under a quality management system pursuing dual ISO 9001 / ISO 13485 certification, currently at the pre-audit stage, applied to every project, not just medical devices. A typical engagement moves through four stages:

1. **Discover & Define** — understand the idea, constraints, and goals, then turn them into a clear technical plan and roadmap to production.
2. **Engineer & Design** — mechanical and electrical engineering, software, and industrial design work together to turn the concept into a manufacturable, certifiable product.
3. **Prototype & Validate** — build, test, and refine real prototypes, proving the design is ready for clinical trials, certification, and the field.
4. **Manufacture & Scale** — first production run through assembly, quality testing, and shipping, building the capacity to reach market.

- [Solar Panel Lift](https://fuelsolarlift.com): FUEL's own portable manual hoist system that safely lifts solar panels and equipment up residential rooftops via standard extension ladders, featuring an auto-locking pulley system and optional CarryALL attachment.
- [Dynamic Joint Positioner](https://tactile-ortho.com): Joint positioners (knee and shoulder) developed with Tactile Orthopaedics for surgical training without cadavers; FUEL led development and early manufacturing.
- [Remote Ischemic Conditioning (RIC) System](https://cumming.ucalgary.ca/departments/dcns/about/faculty/ganesh): A novel RIC device developed with Dr. Aravind Ganesh at the University of Calgary for the treatment and prevention of neurological disease, including stroke prevention.
